I've had to amplify microvolt signals using switching supplies, and it can be done. For high supply currents the BNX001 works very well, but it's much bigger and more expensive than you need for 15mA. You can however implement the same circuit discretely with Ls and Cs.
With such a lot of supply headroom you can use RC filters, with for example a 22 ohm resistor followed by a tantalum and a ceramic capacitor. Using 78XX and 79XX linear regulators doesn't actually do much good, as the high frequency switching noise just shoots straight through them. |
