steve the one thing that has always concerned me about in tank pumps and senders is that the mix inside an empty tank where all the residual liquid has eveporated say in a car left parked for a year. The conditions inside the tank could be correct for an explosion. I understand how gauge senders are intrinsicaly safe by design but fuel pumps bring raw 12 volts into the tank to that pump. It seems to me that Mr. Murphy should be waiting somewhere close by
