It is sad, but, at least in the US, the lack of education often does not tell about lack of "mental capability" but parents lack of finances at that crucial time. Maybe in the UK anyone can go to the university for free and the government feeds them for that time, if so, my comment do not apply there. When I went to University in 1970 in the UK it was (almost) free. All course fees were paid by the government along with a means tested grant. The poorest could go for free. Today my children have to pay tuition fees and take out loans to cover living costs By the time they graduate they have huge debts that will take many years to pay off. SO much for Mr. Blair's socialist government. Ian |
