Hi There

I have posted this message at silabs user forums and 8052.com - however this issue is unresolved.

Affects:
RIDE7 - Uses USBHID.dll v1.9.0
IDE4.17
Flash Programmer
Production Programmer
USB Reset

Anything that uses USBHID.dll v1.9.0


Machine:
New windows 7 installation (straight out of the box)
32bit
HP3130
4GB Ram
i7 860 processor
Only USB Adpater, Keyboard and Mouse connected via USB


Debug Carried out:

* Installed Silabs 4.17 IDE as first installed application on new machine. Attempted to connect to C8051F040-TB using USB Debug Adapter.
* Adapter correctly enumerated.



When attempting to connect - the following dialog is presented.





* No amount of plugging or unplugging or swapping adapters (I have 3 to try)made any difference
* Tested the USB reset tool, no joy, from an old installation I found USBHID.DLL v1.8.0 and I replaced the existing file in USB_Reset, this allowed the firmware to be swapped, and I could use the USB_reset tool to communicate with the adapter.
* Replaced the DLL in the production programmer application with V1.8.0, and could connect and program the device (c8051f040) correctly
* As the IDE is locked to the version of the USBHID.dll, I was unable to change the DLL file in this application or in the RIDE7.
* Found an archived version of the Silabs IDE in my archives V3.00 this has the V1.6.0 Dll, this installed and connects to the target device correctly.
* Tried different compatibiliy modes in Windows 7 - no joy.


Conclusion:
There is something wrong with the USBHID.DLL v1.9.0 interfacing with Windows 7 - the same setup works on my Vista machine.

Something wrong with USBHID.dll v1.9.0



I am unable to develop on this machine until this issue is resolved, I can't use the old IDE as I want to use the RC51 compiler that comes with RIDE.
