One of the reasons I say that "the 8051"[1] complicates the issue of learning 'C' is because it adds these complications of generating hex files, programming the chip, etc. You don't have that stuff on a PC, so you can concentrate on learning 'C'. [1] of course, it's not just "the 8051" - it's a general thing with small microcontrollers. Justin Fontes said:
