Slow edges are not normally a problem unless sent to an interrupt input.

When scanning a keyboard, you have to make sure that you have enough delays to have the signals stabilize before you read out the state.

A different issue is that your signal cables will form radiating antennas. This can be reduced a bit by having series resistors on the signals to reduce the peak currents. Even better by having EMI filters.

Exactly how long cables do you need?
