#173935 - odd behaviour
Responding to: ???'s previous message
very odd indeed...

I have noticed that completely by accident I have absently mindedly physically connected the enable register select and Read write pins of the device to ports 0,1,2, and declared tham as ports 1,2,3. YET the enable pin i was strobing is connected to the RS pin of the device (according to its documentation) and this is working as the enable pin.

Jan... The device has a jumper to allow a dedicated busy pin to be read, without using the RW pin and checking its status through reading pin D7 of the module. I have been running through this device very slowly, and it appears it does display the information on the data lines at the falling edge, my eyes are playing tricks it seems. However I see now that the device randomly displays some characters in contiguous character spaces, yet 99% of characters sent to it are not, and have this odd 'blank' character inbetween.

I will also change the length od the delays, but increasing them seems to make no difference, so I dont think its a problem of the signals out on the data lines on the positive edge of strobing Enable.

Not only this, but last night it MAGICALLY started working, i reset the screen by unplugging the power to it and plugging it back in, it began to display normally. I took the power out again, and it went back to displaying randomly.

I'm checking all connections today, so I will let you know tomorrow how this goes.
