#172305 - Agreed...but this happens always... Responding to: ???'s previous message |

In many replies, not just this thread, a lot of replies argue that the correct solution "depends on the application". I agree with you; even I am tired of posting the same replies. This thread itself is a classic example. The OP, did not tell us about her application. So people posted their ideas based on their experience(s). Out of which the OP is going to choose which one to use (out of the many suggestions). Don't you think, it is the wastage of Members valuable time ? You have to appreciate, that you get free information here, but you should also respect other members time. If the OP asks a question giving some backgound information, then they will definitely get Possitive replies here. The type of answer depends upon how you ask. If you ask a question rudely, get ready for rude answers. If you ask a vague question, get ready for vague answers. Justin Fontes said:
I am now arguing that there are a finite number of communication portals to use and as such they are pre-defined and may or may not match an application. Instead of always relaying the same boring answer with no informative response maybe a more helpful approach would be to write a FAQ or create a tutorial on all the communication portals that could be potentially used. Implementing a parametric table would be greatly helpful to seasoned veterans who continously need communications which describe which portals would allow master-slave.... master-multi-slave.... master-master-slave... etc etc... and possibly implementing common properties as speed. If this has been done successfully on the internet, then obviously that link should be posted so that the OP knows the method to use with their application. The application chooses the communication portal, but the communication portal has already been defined. Of course, there might be the chance that none of the communication portals match the application, then what do you do? These are excellent suggestions, I agree to it; and most of it is already done on 8052.com; and many new things are added to this site. But, just have a look at the number of previous posts, (especially, new members) don't even care to read the FAQs, or even search for information. How many times have you seen the question "I want to connect 8051 to PC using RS232, how to do it?". Then members get bored to answer the same question over and over again. The link for this is given in so many threads. |
