#170114 - End goal is important when selecting method Responding to: ???'s previous message |
There are also situations where the goal is to measure the total "weight" of the cable. This is something that is important when having a branching cable - something you may have for Dallas/Maxim one-wire signalling.
Both the length of the cable branches and the summed length of all branches (the weight) in the tree are critical parameters for cables used for communication. And the weight isn't always measured in meters or feet. A measurement method that is good for measuring the length of a cable may not be good for estimating other critical parameters of the transfer system. |
