NB: the capitalisation is significant: the symbol for hertz, the SI unit of frequency, is Hz - with a capital (uppercase) 'H'

In fact, the symbols for all units named after people have a capital initial letter; all other unit symbols are lowercase.

In particular, note that:
  • 'S' (uppercase) is the symbol for siemens - the SI unit of conductance;
  • 's' (lowercase) is the symbol for seconds - the SI unit of time.
