#165415 - Does the existing program write to UART ? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
If your current program in the 8051 is printing stuff to the RS232 when FlashMagic Resets the chip then my suggestion can help.
So please answer: 1. Is the old program printing to the RS232 ? 2. Does FM put your 8051 into boot mode via the DTR line ? e.g. how many wires are in your RS232 connection ? To put your 8051 into bootloader mode manually then : 1. remove power from 8051 board. 2. hold down RESET and PSEN switch. 3. switch on power 4. release RESET 5. release PSEN. 6. Click Connect using FLIP. 7. Erase chip etc. David. p.s. if you write a program that say writes 'U' continually to the RS232, there may be lots of 'UUUUUU's left in the Windows RX buffer. |
