The general consensus is that there are few changes between the two compilers.
That is just syntax. The machine code will be quite different. Not guarantee it works the same. Timing issue? Size? Keil does not get more money because the are the same as SDCC. He Noted they do not have a license, a consultant did it. I see can of worms and a complete retest. The Fastest way and maybe the cheapest is find a consultant with the same version of the compiler. 1) have him compile the code to verify all is the same. 2) add the 2 line and compile it again. 3) switch to SDCC and do a lot of testing as a side project. 3b) Get the smallest Version of the compiler You Do not need the Full Pro Version. Convince you boss that the change will save the cost of the compiler Plus ( AKA: The Business case) Keil may even be able to get you the version you have if it is not too old. Note a change to a much nwer compiler may cause its own issues. |
