#161189 - port pin to far away from board - need buffer
AT89S8253.
The original design had the MCU board mounted on the back of the LCD display.
4" of comm line for TX and RX 3.3V TTL signals to and from LCD display (9600 baud but not RS232).
Everything worked fine and life was good.

New design of same requires LCD display to be 8' away from MCU board.
Using shielded (shield to earth ground) CAT-5 cable and connectors between LCD board and MCU board.

Looking for a 3.3V line buffer of some sort to protect MCU port TX and RX pins.

Chip manufacturer I contacted said buffer not required - simply connect directly to MCU port pin
via CAT-5.

I would rather play it safe and put some kind of buffer on the MCU TX and RX pins before exiting the board.

Any suggestions on a good ESD safe buffer IC to accomplish this?
