It's not the abbreviations per se which cause confusion - it's the failure to define what, specifically, you mean by them in the context of your post.

No need for that - just be sure to define each one at first use.

eg, as Erik suggested, "I have to select a MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) for a SMPS (Switch-Mode Power Supply) input ..."
