I don't provide power supplies, or at least haven't. That's probably why this doesn't bother me.

I wonder, however, this will impact labs like mine, where I use constant-voltage transformers to provide the AC inputs to my devices under test and to my test equipment.

Now that I'm not doing much commercial work, I don't have to worry about this, but I do wonder what its long-term effect will be.

I note that there are millions of people who leave their wall-warts plugged into the wall despite the fact their various battery-operated appliances are in their pockets. This not only wastes a considerable amount of power, world-wide, but seems to be somewhat risky. I've had a few of them overheat under idle conditions, so I Unplug them when they're not in use. I've seen plenty of them that stay in the wall, though.
