#182980 - Using Excel Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I've used Excel for a number of unique applications over the years. Part of the motivation has always been knowing that there was VBA in there to handle the special customization requirements that would be just too complicated to do with 12 inch side horizontal cell formulas.
I often make the choice to use Excel as the basis of a "tool" that I want to build if it appears that some key aspect of the tool us already intrinsically provided by the spreadsheet. One common factor is always the matrix cell organization. I have also been sometimes finding myself using Excel as kind of like a VBA IDE (integrated development environment) for situations where I simply need to be able to write a quick program script to compute something. Excel offers this as it's commonly installed on all my machines as opposed to where a language pack may only be installed on one particular machine. Michael Karas |
