#182835 - Using 16-Segment Displays |
I recently had reason to purchase a couple of these displays:
from eBay as in this listing. I looked around to see if it was possible to quickly download a font map for this type of 16-segment alpha-numeric display. I came up short after a good bit of searching. About all I was able to find was a number of youTube videos showing animations of a font on this type display such as this one. I decided to make a font capture tool in a spreadsheet using embedded VBA code. I've uploaded the tool here to share with others. I think it works pretty cool and demonstrates some of the nifty things you can do with Excel. Using this it took only a few minutes to capture the font image from one of the videos. 16-Segment Alpha Font Design Tool (When using above link it is advised to right click and select the appropriate command to save the link to a file. The Excel tool makes extensive use of VBA macros so you must enable macros for it to work). Michael Karas |
