Comparing a 3GHz processor against a 100MHz controller is not being fair and is similar to comparing apples and oranges. At that point you're seeing straight performance and nothing else for efficiency. The price for such a processor is out the question, not to mention all of the hardware that must be purchased to support such a processor. In that regard, your argument holds no stance just because controllers do not yet have the speed of a processor. Even with your argument, you have proved how well a 100MHz controller can come close with a modern 3GHz processor and that a controller is still well suited for real-time for the same or better quality and more inexpensive equipment.

On another note, there are nice ideas that I have seen, such as, internal clocks. I wish that I could purchase more controllers with internal clocks. I have heard that PICs do contain internal silicon clocks.
