#176648 - Using Spreadsheets Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hi Michael,
Back in about 1989 or 1990, when I was in undergraduate school, I took a course in numerical methods. As my project for the semester I used a spreadsheet to solve a 4th order Runga-Kutta approximation of the planar restricted three-body motion problem. The whole point of my paper was to demonstrate how a spreadsheet, though inefficient for actually calculating numerical methods (discreet mathematics if you prefer), made an excellent format for learning those same methods. It was very much the same sort of thing you seem to be doing here. Anyway, I ended up presenting my paper that year at the Louisiana Academy of Sciences. Cool memories. Thanks, Joe |
