#175540 - So far so good
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Have got a new notebook with WIN_7 Premium 64 bit preloaded.

Till date all of the following have worked without any issues : Silabs IDE, FlashMagic, Keil UV3 to be more specific on the MCU stuff. This also means that my old USB-RS232 cable also was supported. Of course my major worry was on the LabVIEW codes and I have major ongoing prjects with them. Fortunatley there were no issues and all code compiled on my previous XP- 32 bit machine worked without complaints. My USB modem was happy with WIN-7. I thought identifying new flash drives was shade faster.

Of course the HP printer F4185 refused to work untill I downloaded the Win-7 driver. Frankly I am quite happy with the WIN-7 environs. Handling "stuck" programs seems a shade better and so far I have not had a opportunity to hit that power switch for forced shutdown.

And on migration from WIN-XP : Just dont waste too much time on the Windows Easy Transfer and all that stuff. Simply copy all your data on to a new folder on the WIN-7 machine and you are good to go. If you have managed to define your own folders for e-mail storage, Address book, IE favourites and such - just copy them and they work fine too.

One last thing : You don't have to click on Start to Shut down. I liked it.

Mr Gates - are you listening ? I just gave a good account of your latest OS.
