I finally understand after many moons what you are trying to dream up. That's a difficult one. If you do have a tv tuner card and you have A/V output, you should be able to use a generic RF modulator (like one from a VCR or radioshack) and switch to channel 3 or 4 to view the A/V signal on your desktop's/laptop's screen in real-time. Just connect the antenna to the RF modulator. That's going to be your quickest solution, but in low-definition. If you want to go further you might want to look into HDMI to LVDS (or convert to LVDS). LVDS is a low voltage differential signal that is a serial signal. Serial is actually faster than parallel now-a-days and now they are paralleling serial signals to give more bandwidth at higher data rates. Well, LVDS is needed for those large flat panel screens used on desktops and the like. One can go into great depth and find out that you'll need a serializer (acronym SerDes) which most likely comes down to an FPGA or a ready made chip (depending on the data rates). This is all good and well if you know how to convert your original signal to begin with. Someone asked this question in a different forum to a TI rep. See what they say about converting HDMI to LVDS: http://e2e.ti.com/support/i...i9277.aspx Hi Jusin: Thanks for your reply. I was thinking along those lines. But when I moved I gave away RF modulator to some else. I would have buy another rf modulator and a tuner. Which is more money then a unit by it self. So I looked at some more links where their were tuners. Went to http://www.hauppauge.com and found this unit for about $45.00 dollars. Usb-Live2. It looks like it will do what I want with composite video. So I ordered one and will let you know how it works. From what I read so far it should work. If I went old school it would cost me around $75.00 dollars to do it your way. Wish me luck. Best regards, Ralph Sac |
