I started my development with the above part and switched over to a better part: R5F21276SNFP - This is from the R8C27 family group. Similar to the one above, not pin compatible. One does need to exercise due concern when using Renesas MCUs. They offer so many variants within each family that you never know what will happen with any particular part when the large OEM customer for that part decides to stop using it. Usually a single part or a few parts become very popular, you can get this information from the distributors and then you can go along with the crowd, also I think Renesas have changed their marketing policy, atleast here in India, they support small manufacturers through their distributors. You can even get 10 pieces from a popular series. You will have to purchase the E8A emulator/programmer, without which you cannot program your devices, Renesas does not reveal any programming protocols for this family, this totally avoids people developing "kitchen programmers". Their free C compiler (upto 64K) is very very good in my opinion. John. |
