First of all, I hope none of your family or friends have been affected by the Sumatra quake - 10 quakes of more than 5.9 in the area. Secondly, making a seismograph doesn't work well with "accelerometers" - you can use the classic Lehmann type and make one in a couple of days at the most. http://www.infiltec.com/seismo/ http://www.keckec.com/seismo/ I made a two axis classic lehmann seismo for a friend a few years ago.
