#163520 - DVD video probably works ... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
... since it's fairly low resolution. Don't try anything in HD though, or any other application that requires high resolution and quick changes of the screen content, and don't even _think_ about using anything that requires 3D or other kinds of video acceleration.
I don't think these devices are going to replace plain old graphics cards or onboard graphics any time soon. Even the lousiest onboard graphics or cheapest graphics card will wipe the floor with these things. Heck, nowadays many mainboards already come with integrated graphics, and if you add a $30 graphics card, you can connect three or four monitors already. They're only a solution if there are no other ways of getting more video outputs (in case of laptops and devices that have USB, but no video output at all), or if you're (literally) deathly afraid of taking a screwdriver to your PC. (I've just read on the website that they're advertising this for using with games ... I think that's getting awfully close to being blatantly false advertising, unless you're playing Q3 or something similarly "ancient"). |
