Your ideas about wifi are good, but in my case I need a device that allows me to print to my old printer without wires and after I changed the defective hard and got my pc working I found the device I need. Any one that needs wireless printer to laptop pc. Here's the place http://www.cablesunlimited.com, it's a kit of transmitter and receiver and cd for the pc. It works great up to distance of 30 feet. My printer is a scanner and printer and this device handles both. My printer is lexmark x1155. The kit cost $99. Most old printer do not have wifi or bluetooth imbedded in them.
