The issue is that the LCD does not correctly position the cursor at the last 7 locations on lines 2 or 4. This is DDRAM addresses 0x61 through 0x67 (LCD control reg bytes 0xE1 through 0xE7). Any attempt to issue such a command puts the cursor at 0x60. Can this be tested on a 2x40 module at all? On 4x40 the module I used (some 4 years ago) which I believe is of the "standard" variety, line 2 was mapped at 0x14-0x27 - so is the problem also present at addresses 0x20-0x27, then? I will try tomorrow morning (no such module at home), but if I would not report until say 1200GMT, please drop me an email to remind me. JW |
