#159959 - Verify bug in character LCD controller
Hi,

I may have discovered a bug in a large Optrex LCD (4x40). I don't know if it's a controller silicon bug, a manufacturing bug, an ESD issue on my end (or even possibly an error in my code or hardware though we think we have ruled that out). The controller underneath the epoxy blob is an NT3881. Optrex is working with me on this but it's slow because they defer to Japan or China for such issues.

I'd like a hand from the assembled masses to check this out on similar modules (we've got 500 of these here and may need to sub with another brand or at least another lot). So if you have a 2x40 or a 4x40 let me know if yours functions properly (and what make/model it is).

The issue is that the LCD does not correctly position the cursor at the last 7 locations on lines 2 or 4. This is DDRAM addresses 0x61 through 0x67 (LCD control reg bytes 0xE1 through 0xE7). Any attempt to issue such a command puts the cursor at 0x60. Please try it out on your module and let me know how it does. I have further investigative insights regarding this module, but I don't want to muddy the water (yet).
