See for example the "DOS software" on the minila.sf.net pages. I have contributed to that both code and ideas. The aim was to make it a standalone device, based on PC-104 or similar low-ost low-performance platform (mind it was a couple of years ago). Of course, a futile attempt for a hobby project.
