#157030 - GUI
Responding to: ???'s previous message
It is a bootable CD that allows you to answer a couple of simple questions - basically what keyboard layout you have and then you can tell it to do automagic detect of the graphics functions of your PC.

It will boot X - the GUI used by Unix machines, but you will get a normal graphical environment where the partition copier/editor will have auto-started.

You have a button to scan the machine for all found disks.

Then you have a drop-down to select which disk you want to play with.

Then you can copy a partition from one disk to another, while changing the size of the target partition.

I have once or twice used it for moving a Windows installation to another machine, but more often when replacing an old HDD with a larger - at the same time increasing partitions to fill the new and larger drive.

It will take a bit more knowledge about Unix if you need to manually copy, rename or delete individual files on a partition. But that can be done too, for a large number of different partition types.

The suggestion when moving partitions is to boot the CD in one machine, while having the other HDD (either the original disk, or the new one) connected by USB.

The CD can be used to repair broken partitions or partition tables, and can also be used to remove files - such as virus - that are locked and may not be removed when Windows is running.

With some luck, you might have a friend with faster Internet access? If not, make sure that you download it with a program that supports restarted downloads in case you have an accident at 97% ;)
