#156922 - I don't get it Ap Responding to: ???'s previous message |
If you made a full image backup from a system, [OS, applications, data files, cookies and all], (which O&O's DiskImage2 will do very nicely) you can restore the whole kit and caboodle back to a new drive on the system. If you stop and think about it you'll realize that doing such restore to another dissimilar hardware platform configuration is next to useless because the backed up image is specific to that computer hardware environment it came from including all manner of hardware specific OS support including all the drivers, the configuration in the registry, and the fit of all installed applications relative to hardware, registry and stored disk data. You may have success imaging the install onto a platform that has a nearly identical hardware foot print if you are willing to take the time to patch up things like network controller MAC addresses in the registry and other such GUID and signature ID data.
However you are free to restore just certain files and folders from the image using a file explorer type utility. (O&O's DiskImage2 does this from its own image files with flying colors). So from this I do not really see the big issue why you think O&Os software will not work unless you are asking it to so something that is nearly impossible for any software to perform.
