The Intersil Part has NO visibility as to what made the reset happen. You missed nothing!! The X5043 has no WDO pin with which to monitor a thing. It has a WDI pin function which incidentally shares with the CS# pin to access the Serial EEPROM portion of the part on the SPI interface.
