It'd probably be cheaper - and certainly a lot quicker - to just pay a little extra for the one capacitor with this parameter fully characterised! And, if this is an ongoing requirements, he'd have to keep testing - since the manufacturer has not guaranteed anything about this parameter. Richard Erlacher said:
If he decides why he needs to know the ESR and how it will impact circuit performance, he might find it easier to test for that characteristic (heating, for example) rather than ESR. Or, perhaps, to design the circuit to be tolerant of uncontrolled ESR...? |
