#153640 - simple

I never learned to like WP. I went directly from WordStar (I learned it under CP/M) to MSWORD. Even though WP products (from Corel) came free with all my HP and Compaq machines, the main struggle was in how to get rid of them.

The cool thing about the DOS versions of Word Perfect was the "reveal codes" feature, which showed you the markup codes and made it easier to unfuck your formatting if necessary.

I liked the old Lotus Manuscript (also for DOS) which had a great, TeX-like equation editor.

It sounds interesting, but HTML is pretty simple already. Why would one need to simplify it?

Again: if your web forum allows anyone to post using HTML, then a miscreant could insert some HTML that can do very malicious things, from the simple, like displaying the infamous "hello.jpg" image, to the dangerous, like linking to a web page that downloads a virus to your computer or perhaps spawning a bunch of unclosable windows linked to a porn site.

Eliminating HTML mitigates many of those problems.
