Political Correctness is another term for newspeak. It's sole purpose is obfuscation, which makes it inherently dishonest. If we can't be honest with each other, maybe we'd all be better off not communicating at all. PC is favored by dimwits with way too much time on their hands and little intelligence.

In most cases I refuse to use the term African-American for the simple reason that very few black Americans have ever been to Africa, much less were been born there. (I personally know one black American who was born in Africa, Nigeria IIRC, and has dual citizenship. He's entitled to be referred to as African-American.) If some claim that the label is valid because their ancestors came from Africa, it's a null point--go back far enough in your family tree and we all have ancestors from Africa.

Note that in Jez' message, the blind person didn't mind being called blind. It was some self-appointed PC policeperson who objected. Such twits should not be tolerated. If I had been in Jez' shoes, I would have told the arrogant fool just what I thought of his/her attitude.

PC is nothing less than an attempt to implement thought control and is despicable by its very nature.
