#152292 - COB's hard to trace... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
One of the modules is a PC4004-A, which the manufacturer indicates is a unit with the controller mounted with COB (Chip-On-Board). This is with the IC chip(s) stuck down on the PC board and then covered with blob(s) of black gunk. It can be difficult to trace the circuits of this type of module and it is certainly not possible to read a manufacturer part number off the display controller IC.
The manufacturer has handily indicated that the controller chip used on this module is the S6A0069 which can be found on various web sites. The module has two of these chips on board and each must be talked to by the firmware as if a separate device. The E1 and E2 lines are separate per device so that all the other interface lines to the two chips can be shared. Michael Karas |
