#152273 - 4 x 40 LCD display
Just thought I would ask the wisdom of the group.

I have been happily using 2 x 20 LCD displays that use the Hitachi drivers etc for a while and recently came across two, 4 x 40 displays.

Now where my old Hitachi book says that they should have 14 pins for connections these have 16 pins

I have downloaded some pdf's for them and think I have the correct ones. One seems to be a Veritronix and the other a Powertip.

These seem to show that the displays are split into two 2x 40 displays with parallel data and control across the two sections of the display but with each display having its own Enable pin.

Now a few questions.

My old hitachi book says that each line would start at different addresses such as: -

00H for the 1st line
40H for the 2nd line
28H for the 3rd line and
68H for the 4th line.

Does anyone know if this is still the case for these makes of display?

Could I connect E1 and E2 together and drive as per the Hitachi book?

Why have two Enable lines?

My own SBC is only wired for 14 pin connections to the display, so I would need to add a few wire links if the display unit has to be treated as two independent displays.

Thanks in advance

Adrian

Have you considered looking for a datasheet?            01/01/70 00:00
