#150860 - Many reasons
Responding to: ???'s previous message
A snubber damps out unwanted energy for any number of reasons. RF emissions is probably the most common issue, but it can also be used to reduce the peak voltage associated with ringing. In some circumstances, a snubber may be preferable to a diode clamp.
