But I'm hoping ultrasound will be better at going round corners than IR.
One issue here is that ultrasound propagates (logically) at the speed of sound, while IR propagates at the speed of light. If you're even trying to go around corners, you might have to deal with all kinds of pesky effects like echoes, that you won't see when dealing with light. |
