#147278 - to SPI or not to SPI... :-)
Responding to: ???'s previous message
It indeed sounds idiotic not to use a multiple-of-eight-bit SPI interface nowadays, when many mcus have HW SPI capable of just this... But AFAIK the exact behaviour of Vinculum gadget is given by its firmware, isn't it? Then, exerting enough pressure at the FTDI guys (which maybe you might be able to do, Erik), they should be able to modify on this, don't they?

Just a note, I was playing with the Ramtron (ex-Goal) Versa chips, and according to the datasheet they are capable of "any-bit" SPI up to 32, i.e. including say 7, 15 and 23... (and also more than 32 in multiples of 8, but that's boring :-) ).
