If you don't want to be tracked, all you have to do is turn off your cellphone, right?

It seems as though we have about two fatal accidents per month that can be attributed to cellphone use, mostly by youngsters, and mostly while texting. It wouldn't be so bad if they'd only kill themselves, but they take others, not so irresponsible, with them.

I read that there's a jammer that, while illegal, one can buy on the www, for a few hundred $US, that will jam all cellphones within 100 meters. If one simply set one up to send out a 100 ms jam pulse every second while driving down the road, it would interrupt all active phone calls in range.

I'm not sure that's the solution though, as the irresponsible twits that talk on cellphones while driving would probably attempt to redial, and pay even less attention to traffic.

I don't see cellphone use, particularly texting, as being any different than reading a newspaper or watching TV while driving. It's very hazardous to everyone within 250 meters ahead and 50 meters behind and 75 meters to either side.
