I have been thinking about what we do in terms of contributing to a society where there is an ever increasing amount of covert surveillance and I sort of came to the conclution that what we do is actualy quite useful in that it does help catch criminals and reduce conjestion on the roads and so on.
I was confronted by someone the other day when I was working on a site where we have cameras mounted on a lampost as he was convinced that the cameras where part of some government scheme to reduce the number of police on the streets by using cameras to monitor people being naughty, sadly we have company guidelines on how to deal with memebers of the public when we are working on site and it says we are not allowed to get into fights with them,even if they are asking for it:-)
I am interested in how other people deal with working on what might be morally difficult products.
personaly I think we are increasing the wellbeing of the greater number of people at the cost of a small number of people who insist on trying to get away with breaking the law, which cannot be a bad thing.
