#146816 - Problem connecting to the Net. |
I will describe a problem for which as of now reformatting the drive seems to be one solution ( but which I hate to do ):
- I connect to the net from my Sony VAIO notebook through either a wireless broadband or through another PCMCIA data card. - Assuming I clicked Google, I see the message " Looking up www.google.com " that stays for almost 10 secs before giving up as "Site not found". Happens with both my ISPs and both IE6.0 and Mozilla Firefox browsers. I then can do nothing. - I am sure the TCP/IP or some such settings have been messed up somehow. Point is, the behaviour is completely random and there are times when I browse with no problem at all. this problem started just a few weeks back. Can it be some kind of virus ?? Can anyone figure out the reason for this behaviour ? Will be glad to set it right without a reformat. ( I use Norton Internet Security and its associated Firewall and not the native WIN_XP firewall ) Maybe one of you TCP/IP gurus out there can help me ?? Thanks Raghu |
