#146814 - Voltage ratings of switches |
Hi Folks,
I am stuck in a remote site and have a problem. I need to connect a push to on switch rated for 230V AC / 0.5Amp to a supply of 415V AC. I do know it is WRONG. But then I am forced to do it for want of a switch of proper spec. and considering the week end I will not get it before Tuesday next. Too late. The only saving grace is that the current rating I require with 415 V AC is less than 100mA. Question is : What am I compromising if I use the switch as above? Will it flash over or considering the low current rating will manage to work ? Can I bank on the VA rating? ( This is just a stop gap arrangement but still I want to be sure...) Thanks Raghu |
