Anyhow, I would, of course always prefer to work with a datasheet that has the same name as the unit I use --- as a amtter of fact I would refuse to buy anything if I did not have a correct datasheet available to me. Now, here we have someone that has bought/found something without a proper datasheet and (s)he has 2 choices a) throw it away and buy a documented unit or b) use what is available and hope. Erik It needs a link to bind the sheet to which you referred to the specific LCD that the O/P is using. I don't think he provided his part number, BTW. I'd bet that not all of their (Crystaloncs') LCD's use that 16-position connector, though I'd not be surprised to find that their 40x4 types do, since they often use two HD44780's rather than expanding with HD44100's.
