Now, here we have someone that has bought/found something without a proper datasheet and (s)he has 2 choices a) throw it away and buy a documented unit or b) use what is available and hope.

It needs a link to bind the sheet to which you referred to the specific LCD that the O/P is using. I don't think he provided his part number, BTW.

I'd bet that not all of their (Crystaloncs') LCD's use that 16-position connector, though I'd not be surprised to find that their 40x4 types do, since they often use two HD44780's rather than expanding with HD44100's.
