#137211 - "homemade" solder mask Responding to: ???'s previous message |

Hi Erik,
I make my own PWBs, but I do include a solder mask. It would be impossible to assemble almost any of the smt parts I use otherwise. Joe Well, Joe, based on the equipment you already told here you own, I wouldn't call your workshop (?) a typical amateur's setup... :-) Actually, the guy who made me PCBs (OK, PWBs) for those adapters, makes them in a garage, including throuh-hole plating, solder mask, various metal plating (incl. gold) and silkscreen (and he does not live on a farm, but in a medium sized Czech town (Decin)), only for his own needs. Those for me were made for free and the mask he said requires quite a lot of work with nasty and expensive chemicals, and I was perfectly happy having them without mask, within a few days, and for free... He has more such "nonstandard hobby equipment", for example an automatic enveloping machine... As I think of it, quite a lot of people in electronics and computers are rather eccentric... :-) JW |
