I suppose really you should say that you souldn't have a watchdog because it should only reset the processor when your design has gone wrong and it needs to be reported, which is a valid view point but on the other hand most projects ive seen have been shipped under circumstances where it isnt as robust as it should be though no fault of the designer but because the management wants it shipped.Ive got a digital tv receiver which is running some version of linux which gets pretty screwed up and needs to be reset on a monthly basis.
