ergo a 4 clocker supposedly run 3 times faster than a 12 clocker.

if "cycle count" is "instruction cycles" 2) above is incorrect, if it is "clock cycles" 20 is correct.

re "stupid answers" you get those form the "level 1 responders" regardless of which company you call :(
With many years of experience you will learn how to get to levels 2 and 3 where the answers seems to make sense. I can appreciate tha companies can not afford to have highly paid people to ask "did you plug it in" but the level 1 responders ought to be trained in "if you do not know, do not guess".
