#132461 - for the really big rockets Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hes working on a liquid fuel engine which uses hydrogen peroxide and kerosene as the fuel.Hes only had it working for 5 seconds but it produces a 6 foot jet of flame with mach rings in it, and the stainless steel combustion chamber glows cherry red within three seconds. We had it going in his garage and the sound it makes is just stunning.hes talking about having a second injector in the output of the combustion chamber like an afterburner.
mach rings are where the unburnt gas gets compressed by standing shock waves set up in the exhaust and that compresses and heats the unburnt gas until it glows. |
