#130627 - Making it harder to fake chips |
The company I work for has recently been sold three different types of fake IC. Fortunately we only buy from reputable companies, so they have given us our money back, but it's still aggravating. It wasn't too difficult to spot these fakes because they didn't have valid branding and batch codes printed on them, but it strikes me that the IC manufacturers could make it harder for the fakers. A moulded in logo on the underside strikes me as a simple first step.
Any thoughts? |
