I agree with Russell Bull. There's no need for any change to the voting system. If you find that a thread is pointless or distracting, nobody is asking you to read it or add to it. Just ignore it.

It's apparent that some folks find it somehow valuable or amusing to argue with each other. If this were not the case, there wouldn't be nearly 200 messages in the two recent threads started by Mr. Heywood. I don't understand any of it myself, but neither do I see any reason to arbitrarily deprive these people of their entertainment.
